This interactive workshop trains participants to understand and apply European AI legislation in the day-to-day operations of their organisations. In three hours, teams will gain the necessary knowledge and tools to prepare their departments for the new rules. (in force since August 2024)
The workshop will be led by a Certified EU AI Act Compliance Officer, giving participants not only an understanding of theory but also practical guidelines in line with official European frameworks.
The course combines several components:
- What is AI? - Basic concepts, definitions and how AI differs from classical software.
- Scope of the AI Act - Who does the law apply to? Providers, importers, distributors, deployers and users. Geographical scope is also discussed.
- Risk categories - Classification of unacceptable risk (prohibitions), high-risk (strict requirements), transparency obligations and low-risk applications.
- Ethics and reliability - Link to EU ethical guidelines: legal, ethical and robust. Including the seven requirements for trustworthy AI (transparency, non-discrimination, human control ...).
- Coherence with other laws - How the AI Act relates to GDPR, product safety, cybersecurity, labour law and human rights.
- Departmental approach - HR, Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT ... Each department faces different obligations and risks. The workshop shows where the AI Act is relevant in your team.
- Processes and protocols - Participants learn what internal steps, documentation and responsibilities are needed to work compliantly, including in an SME context.
- Practical exercises - Case studies and self-reflection exercises (such as ALT(AI)) that allow participants to assess whether an application is compliant and how they demonstrate this.
- Enforcement and liability - Role of regulators, sanctions and the AI Liability Directive (reversed burden of proof for damages).
In short: This workshop not only provides insight into the law, but also practical skills to test AI projects department by department, set up processes and develop protocols. This will help you ensure that applications are safe, fair and transparent - in any sector and for both large organisations and SMEs.
